Epcon Lane has recently become WBENC certified.
“The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), founded in 1997, is the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States.” (www.wbenc.org)
“We are excited to offer it as an achievement that will benefit our customers who have goals to reach doing business with certified small business enterprises” says owner, Leslie Wyman.
To become certified, Epcon Lane had to complete the following steps:
- Applicant company must be at least fifty-one percent (51%) owned and controlled by one or more women who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents,or in the case of any publicly-owned business, at least fifty-one percent (51%) of the equity of which is owned and controlled by one or more women who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents; and
- Whose management and daily operation is controlled by one or more of the women owners.
- WBENC uses a two part process to ensure that the applicant company meets the WBENC Standards. This will include a thorough review of the documentation presented and a site visit interview with the female owner(s).
Becoming certified be WBENC is not only a huge honor, but it allows Epcon Lane access to many other companies that are run by women. This means that Epcon Lane has the privilege to join a community of successful businesses run by women and gain support and knowledge from said businesses.
This certification is a national recognition that Epcon Lane is a women owned entity. Companies that have federal grants or do business with national corporations are often expected to do business with a percentage of certified WBENC companies and Epcon Lane can now help these companies to meet their metrics. Companies are encouraged to call or email if they need a copy of the certification. Epcon Lane also continues to maintain their status as an A+ Accredited business with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
